  4. The distributor must have a license to sell the product. For example, anyone selling under the category of e-books needs permission from the publisher. Process of delivering Digital Goods:

EMS:

There are 2 types of Digital Goods. One that offers customers a QR code upon purchase, which can be redeemed either at the seller’s location (such as an outlet, restaurant, or pickup point) or at the customer’s location (such as their home or office). It is called EMS and the order fulfillment is automated.

Similar to physical products, Go to the Orders and Review tab. Under “Orders Overview”, Ship on time SLA will be green for all received orders. This means they are delivered right away to the customer. However, sometimes it might appear yellow or red. Then in that case, manually click on “Ready to Ship”. Copy the order number in the invoice number and click on save. It would turn Green.

non-EMS

They call the other kind of digital goods non-EMS.” These are digital products that are delivered to customers online through email. Such as voucher codes, portal accesses, package confirmations, etc. For these orders, Sent the goods to the customer first (By use of email or SMS) and then mark it as “Ready to Ship”.

Make sure to 1st send the product and then click on “Ready to ship”. This helps avoid any confusion regarding the delivery to the customer. The seller must send these orders within 24 hours of receiving the order.

After the successful fulfillment of an order, the customer and seller both will receive an email from daraz stating the successful completion of an order.

How Daraz Validates the delivery of Digital Goods?

Daraz Requires Sellers to keep the proof of delivery to the customer in case of a complaint.

The seller needs to make a screen recording of checking the product on its related website just minutes before delivering. The proof includes stating the product with details (voucher code, coupon code, relevant link, etc.). Verifying the website addresses, the order number, and the date and time. After that, if possible, first verify the customer’s email, then send the product. Clearly mentioning the order no., customer email, date & time. And again, ask for the customer’s confirmation of receipt where possible.

For verification and to make communication easier between Digital goods sellers and customers, Daraz has introduced New User Role. As to keep the privacy of customers, Daraz hides personal details such as phone numbers of the customer from the seller. But for Digital Goods Seller, simply create a new user role, using another email address. And view the details of the customer. A new user role can be created on Portal under “User Management” on the “Accounts & Settings” Tab.

Conclusion

In conclusion, Daraz Digital Goods are the future of online shopping. They offer convenience, affordability, and fast delivery, making them the perfect choice for anyone looking to purchase digital products and services. What is Daraz Content Guideline? -2023

Table of Contents

Daraz Content Guideline

In 2012, the founders established Daraz, an online shopping platform headquartered in Pakistan. It offers a wide range of products, including fashion, electronics, home appliances, beauty, and more. Daraz Content Guideline is a set of rules and standards set by Daraz for sellers to follow when listing and selling their products on the platform. Customers can browse and purchase products through the Daraz website or mobile app and can choose from various payment and delivery options.

Daraz gives guidelines that ensure that the marketplace remains organized and user-friendly and that customers receive high-quality products and services.

Some key components of the Daraz Content Guideline include:

Product Listing Requirements

The seller must ensure that the product title and description are according to daraz criteria. Product descriptions should be clear, concise, and accurate. Misleading or incorrect descriptions can lead to customer dissatisfaction and returns. You must optimize it for SEO, but avoid bombarding it with keywords. Optimize the product description for search engines and ensure that it clearly and accurately describes the SKU. Read more on “how to do product SEO?” here.

Images

Daraz prioritizes clear, detailed, accurate, and well-lit images. Also, show the product from multiple angles in your shots. Poor pictures can negatively impact the customer’s decision to purchase.

Pricing

Pricing is an important factor for customers, so it’s important to be competitive. Overpricing can lead to a lack of sales while underpricing can result in lower profits or losses.

Incorrect categorization

Categorizing the product correctly is important because listing it under the wrong category may make it invisible to the right customers

Missing product information

It’s important to provide customers with all the relevant information about a product, such as material, size, and color options. Missing information can lead to confusion and mistrust.

Product Quality and Safety Standards

Sellers must adhere to Daraz’s product quality and safety standards. This is important to provide high-grade and safe usage for customers.

Prohibited Products

Daraz prohibits some types of products on Daraz, such as counterfeit items, dangerous or illegal goods, or products that violate intellectual property rights. Read more here.

Compliance

Sellers need to comply with Daraz’s policies and guidelines, as well as all relevant laws and regulations. Therefore, Failure to comply results in charging non-compliance points, which can have severe consequences. Read more about “non-compliance points here”. Also, read about the new Taxing law for sellers in 2023.

Feedback and Reviews

Cosmetic Restriction Policy for Daraz Seller 2023

New Cosmetic Guideline for Daraz Seller

Table of Contents

Daraz has recently introduced the Cosmetic Restriction Policy. It is a difficult but fundamental change in some categories. The Largest impacting industry is Cosmetics. All sellers will face an impact. Through the sudden announcement of an immediate ban on beauty products. Today we will discuss it in detail.

The background which led to Cosmetic Restriction Policy:

Around last year during the summers, all sellers dealing in cosmetic products faced a lock of their products. The items could only be unlocked. Or made visible to customers after the cumbersome process of submitting a list of relevant documents. It is done to ensure customer protection. And that no seller is defaming the platform’s reputation.

Although on the rise of so many complaints and the heavy setback received on the revenue it faced when enforcing such laws without prior notice. Soon all the products were immediately unlocked. While sellers were notified about the relaxation of 3 months during which they can prepare for the paperwork. The new deadline is of 1st Jan 2023.

Which category of sellers are impacted?

The cosmetic industry is greatly affected due to the new “Cosmetic Restriction Policy”. Particularly sellers dealing in:

  • Make-up
  • Skincare
  • Fragrances
  • Personal Care
  • Men’s Care
  • Hair Care
  • Sexual Wellness
  • Bath & Body

What should be done?

All sellers in response to the Cosmetic Restriction Policy have to comply. Whether sourcing or producing any product. All sellers are required to submit the below-mentioned documents, against the item to be sold on the platform:

1, Electronic invoice:

All invoices must be produced electronically. Manual invoices are not accepted. Both parties’ billing addresses and tax details should be present on the document.

The product buyer’s name on the invoice should be the same as the seller’s name on Daraz to ensure transparency. For a manufacturer of the product, the invoice is not required. But company registration and relevant documents must be submitted.

What documents are required by Cosmetic Restriction Policy?

For manufacturers, lab tests are required. This lab test requirement has been a very significant one to maintain Daraz’s quality. As sensitive categories can’t be sold without approval from relevant authorities. All tests must be conducted from a laboratory accredited by Pakistan national accreditation council. Or international accreditation is also accepted such as by FDA(USA), EMA (European Union), and CFDA (China).

The products should be checked against the following ingredients:

The complete Ingredient list has to be approved. Mandatory testing of mercury content (less than 1%) for all cosmetic categories.

How to submit these documents to Daraz?

The seller should send the documents through the e-form provided by the seller center under the header of the Cosmetic Restriction Policy. Or inquire more in live chat.

The seller will receive the response through the official seller email address provided in the form. The process can take up to 7 working days for the Daraz team to contact back. Most often all the feedbacks are not positive and rejection is a common issue. Find the details of the discussion below.

Why my Athorization form is rejected?

Sometimes the form will be rejected on 1st try. The reasons are compiled below:

1, Documents uploaded are not relevant or pictures appear blurry. Please insure clear scanned documents has to be uploaded.

2, If the documents appear to be fake. As in the logos appear to be manipulated or photoshopped. No false claims are tolerated and the application will be rejected right away. If it is invalid then you can reupload the documents clearly or contact the Daraz team through live chat.

3, If the invoice shows evidence that a fake or counterfeit product has been transected. Verified through the price which is unrealistic. Or the purchaser has been known to sell copies of the original product. Then your application would be rejected. Because Daraz does not allow the sale of such items.

4, In the case where the invoice does not display the proper product name. Or the name and address of the seller are ambiguous. Then the application can’t be processed. Transparent information of both parties, the exact detail of each product, and true paperwork must be mentioned on the invoice and submitted for approval. Also, the invoice should clearly state the quotation on it.

5, Most sellers mistakenly upload the empty invoice, thus double check all the documents before uploading.

6, Handwritten invoices are considered unauthentic. Reliable Source has to be listed for the purchase of products to be sold on Daraz.

7, If the product is banned or prohibited to be sold on Daraz. Then submitting a valid invoice won’t matter. To learn more read “what products are restricted to be sold on Daraz?”.

8, Clear Tax details should be mentioned on the invoice. Sales tax is a requirement by the Government of Pakistan and it is a crime in a court of law. Read more about taxes on Daraz here “What are Daraz taxing laws?”

9, The word file of the direct invoice without the signs and stamps is not acceptable. A scanned copy of the final document is the only way to approval.

10, The invoice should mention the price of the product it is being purchased for at the time. This ensures the verification of quality parameters.

Cosmetic Restriction Policy Conclusion:

Daraz constantly works on increasing sales. However, trust is a major element required for online shopping. This Cosmetic Restriction Policy will definitely backlash most sellers. In the conventional work culture especially, in Pakistan, it is easy to skip these procedures and sell the product anyhow. But the cosmetic category is sensitive and the Government has implemented sudden checks to ensure health before beauty protocols. In past, many products have damaged the reputation of the platform thus every day new protocols are introduced.

once the regulatory requirements are achieved. Selling is easy and safe for society. Hope that we have helped you resolve your query. For further details read our article on how Daraz works. What is a return order? -Daraz Seller 2023

Table of Contents

What is a return order?

Every platform needs to set some policies for good and bad situations. One of the most focused approaches in doing so is to prioritize the customer. It is also a practical way as buyers are the only ones that keep any platform alive. Daraz has a very soft product return policy for customers to help them shop online without any fear. In fact, the 1st and most prominent thing printed on Daraz flyers are the “how to return order” text summary. The pros and cons of which will be discussed in detail and the ways the damage can be mitigated if unjustified returns are encountered.

Daraz has a policy where customers can return the product within 7 days of receiving it. This order return can only be applied if the product received is not what they ordered. Change of mind is not applicable. Or another significant factor is that sellers are not aware of the basic selling policy set by Daraz. You can read it in detail here “Things Sellers must know Before Selling on Daraz.pk“.

How can a product be returned?

The seller will be notified when a product is returned through the official email address registered with the platform. Also, the seller will be notified when the customer has dropped off the product and all the relevant updates. The news can be visible and tracked on the mobile app of the Daraz seller. Once the customer requests the return, a shipping label is generated and the customer packs the product and ships it to the nearest hub till it reaches back to the seller. The station can also facilitate and guide the buyer regarding returns.

What happens when the seller receives a return order request?

When a product is returned the first consequence is that the amount is deducted from the seller’s account statement without even verification. The amount is the price of the product only and the shipping fee is not deducted.

How will the order be return?

The seller can collect the product from the hub they dropped off the package. The package will come with a form that will detail why the customer has returned their product. If the product is damaged, exchanged or alternate, a claim can be made within 30 days of receiving the returned product. In case the product is not returned after 30 days the seller can claim for no product return. Also, know that the amount will be refunded if the claim is correct. But video evidence is necessary for it.

Returns from customers will increase your return rate and reduce your chance to participate in campaigns, submit products for seller picks, and can lead to the delisting of the shop. Therefore it is necessary to ensure that the right product is listed and all videos are recorded while packing to avoid fake returns.

What to do when the order return is unjustified?

Every Business has some drawbacks. Another major problem with an online store is that people don’t physically see the product which can create misconceptions. This causes problems for both seller and the buyer. Or often times people put fake orders and all that returns back to the seller causing packaging waste. Sellers should always be aware of any returns and missing packages. You would often find yourself in a situation where a financial transaction is concerned. At this time, Daraz has a very organized system to consult the platform and discuss the issue in detail. It is known as a claim and is accessible through the seller center.

How to file a claim against a return order

Go to Seller Centre → Seller Support → you will find reasons and you can file the claim as suitable to your situation.

Type of claim

There are many situations after which you are eligible to claim. But it is not confirmed that each claim will be accepted or you will be compensated. Following are the situations after which you must claim. Note that claims made within 30 days are only acceptable.

1, Returns:

If a customer wrongfully returns the item, while the seller has delivered the right product.

2, Packages not returned after failed delivery:

i, If the packages are not returned soon after it has moved to failed delivery then it might mean that it has been returned to the wrong person.

ii, Parcel could also be lost in the system which is very rare and a claim can only help

3, The parcel is stuck in the shipped tab for a long time:

This happens mostly due to system error or if the package is lost by Daraz. In most cases, you will already be compensated but it is better to file a claim to avoid any possible loss.

Times you won’t be Compensated

1, You have exceeded the date of return of failed delivery. It is important to know that claims can only be filed within 30 days and any claim made after it will not be entertained.

2, The claim of returned product from the customer is genuine.

3, You have no evidence of the claim.

How to make sure the Claim will be accepted

It is not confirmed that each complaint made will be accepted or that compensation will be provided. Only true claims with video evidence will be acceptable. Therefore it is important to always record the video while packaging the product. In case of a discrepancy, it will benefit the seller.

How will the seller be compensated for accepted claims

You will be soon notified if your claim is accepted. The money associated with your loss will be returned back to you. It will appear in the financial transaction within 2-3 payment cycles.

Conclusion:

This is all for the return order on Daraz and the complete process of Daraz’s claims. Comment down below whether you have faced any issue personally or did this article helped you in any way. Do you know many packages can be returned due to poor packaging? The seller must give “Packaging Guidelines” a read to avoid any possible consequences. You can reach us here.

What is the Delisting of Shops on Daraz? 2023

Table of Contents

What is the Delisting of Shops on Daraz?

You might think that you will never face this situation of delisting by Daraz. Because your performance is outstanding on the platform. And you have always been a policy complaint seller. But sorry to break your bubble, this is not the case all the time. Your shop is still at risk of being delisted.

Often you will not even realize that your shop has been delisted. Until your customers start asking you questions about restocking the products and you will wonder why? because you are aware that you have the items in stock.

So don’t get confused. We will cover all the relevant issues that can lead to delisting. And explain briefly what exactly means to be delisted and what you should do.

Delisting:

You will be notified through email that your shop has been delisted. This means that your daily order limit is set to zero for the next 7 days. In simple words, all your product will be made offline or out of stock on the web page for a week.

What causes Delisting?

This is caused when Daraz Seller Policy is breached. Or your performance is below what is set by the platform therefore scorecards are very necessary to maintain. This means that the cancellation rate has exceeded than 2%, or the response time is more than preferred which is 80%. If you have reached over SLA time to ship your orders is that within 2 days of receiving the orders? Or your return rate from your end is more than 2%. This is especially significant in the case of small sellers whose weekly orders are no more than 2-3. And if you even cancel a single order over your years of journey with Daraz it can still lead to delisting. Your orders are limited to 2-3 per week and one cancellations can exceed this limit.

Also, Cancellation from the seller’s end is counted and all orders canceled by the customer will have no impact. This is also valid for returns from customers. For small sellers, if a single customer returns the order it can still lead to delisting even if the return was not valid or the customer has falsified. So in the beginning it is necessary to be conscious. You can record videos while packaging to avoid irrelevant returns or fake claims and always review the products twice that you publish for the campaign. Often sellers mistakenly provide a discount out of their budget when submitting products for the campaign and it leads them to cancel orders. For more tips, you can read the blog “Things you must know before signing up for Daraz”.

How to Solve this after delisting from Daraz?

The email sent to your registered ID will have an autogenerated form attached. And you will be required to fill it out. It will have questions about what led you to this situation and how it can be improved. And no steps are further required. Nothing will make your shop online again. Your shop will be made offline for the next 7 days and then automatically will be live again after completing the required period.

what are the consequences of delisting?

If your shop has been delisted for a consecutive 6 scorecards cycle then it will be permanently banned for the platform This is very rare and often Daraz gives multiple chances to good performing Sellers. Delisting will automatically reduce your chance to participate in campaigns which will also lead to in loss of spaces for seller picks.

Daraz encourages a fair trade Policy for the best-selling experience. It is beneficial to both the seller and the buyer. Therefore, Daraz has introduced Seller Compliance Policy.  Any violation of the policy will lead to a non-compliance point (NCP) which leads to delisting

What is Non-Compliance Point (NCP)?

They are measured on a scale of 48 points. After which the shop gets completely deactivated. And the seller will no longer be able to register any shop on Daraz with the same CNIC or email address. This Non Compliance point can be seen from the seller dashboard. Just sign in to the seller account and Go to Under “Growth center in “Policy Compliance”.

The points can only get reset after 365 days. Thus, it is important to avoid them in the first place as they cannot be turned back. On getting between 0-11 points, the seller will be penalized by giving a warning. On the further increase of the point between the range of 12-23. The seller and his products will be blocked from category and search pages for 7 days. On the further increase of points between 24-35. Not only products will be blocked from the category and search page for 14 days, but sellers will also not be able to list new products. This will be applicable for 14 days. When NCP points equal to or gets above 48. The shop will be permanently deactivated. No new shop can be opened from the same NIC or email address.

Thus seller compliance policy must adhere to all policies given:

Listing Restricted Brand:

Listing any product that falls under the category of the restricted brand gives NCP. Meaning that any seller selling this product without the request authorization documents will lead to  48 NCP points. It is important to research before purchasing any product. To know more about what products are restricted or only allowed for sellers with authorization documents, Click the link “What products are restricted on Daraz for selling 2020-Guide?”. It will help get further insight into the subject.

Seller Behavior Policy:

This Policy is purely based on the interaction of the seller with the buyer or Daraz employees and vice versa. It includes any offense that is related to causing bodily harm, issuing threats, unsolicited communication( sending any messages that are considered spam or one which has nothing to do with selling on Daraz, using any official communication channel provided by Daraz), requesting order cancellation to buyer, sharing contact details or asking a buyer to purchase the product out of Daraz, profanity, hate speech, misbehavior with anyone on the platform. All of these factors can lead to a violation of policy and have severe consequences and the seller may be issued 48 points as a result.

Fair Trade Policy:

These cover all the fraudulent activities that are prohibited to be committed by a seller to maintain a trustworthy environment for the buyers. Any seller maliciously ordering, evaluating, or complaining about other sellers i.e. sellers’ use of a member account to place orders to make the fellow seller out of stock, or purchase a product to provide reviews or complaints against the other. The policy also covers seller self-promotion in way of ordering their product to increase their performance on Daraz by providing a positive review. Using illegal means to defraud the platform policies and illegal profits. Creating false shipments, misusing Daraz packaging or reselling it outside the platform, sending empty or unrelated products, violating any intellectual property rights, etc. All of these are part of Fair Trade policy and in all cases must be avoided.

Product Guidelines Policy to avoid delisting:

This policy requires sellers to follow proper product guidelines. Prohibited, misleading, fake, duplicate, counterfeit, a product with contact information, incorrectly tagged in the product category, a product with bad customer feedback, keyword spam, and change of product description after it goes live in a campaign, all such acts are considered as product guidelines violation. Which can lead to delisting and probably deactivation of the seller account on Daraz.

Conclusion:

These were all the policies currently applicable as of the latest 2022, Daraz has the right to change, add or eliminate any policy. To enhance the performance on the platform all sellers must adhere to the above. It will benefit the seller from being charged with any Non-Compliance Point. And to avoid getting delisted on Daraz. Comment down below your opinion or do you have any more suggestions to be added to our list? Hope your queries are answered. Also, let us know how many of you have faced this as a seller on Daraz. Packaging Guideline for Daraz-2023

Table of Contents

Packaging Guideline for 2023:

If you are already a seller on Daraz then you must keep yourself well-equip with the following Packaging guideline. This will help you tackle any claim or trouble in the future. The packaging guideline at all costs must be strictly adhered to. They can be found in more detail on Daraz University accessible from the seller ID. This article only provides a brief introduction covering each rule:

Products that are bigger than the packaging available:

For products such as printer, TV, Fridge, etc that doesn’t usually fit into the package, In that case, the box must be covered with an opaque brown sheet making sure that the product is not visible to view through it. Make sure to properly stick the shipping label on it and secure it with tape to avoid any possible damage.

Packages with 2 large units, should be packed together in 1 big package. Applying the same shipping label on separate packaging will be considered as 1 package and the seller will bear the loss if the other component / other package gets misplaced.

Never print a shipping label on coloring pages:

This might look small but it matters a lot. This attitude shows professional behavior and customer-seller relation. Make sure to always use plain white paper to print a shipping label. In or in case of stickers the classic yellow color is allowed only.

Never put tape on the flyer:

When packaging bulky items such as Books it might appear that securing them with tape can do good. But never use tape on the flyer as it gives the impression of a torn parcel and the customer might reject it at the doorstep therefore Daraz does not accept any package with tape on the flyer.

Shrink wrap your package

If your packages are exceeding the packing provided by Daraz. Then after covering the product with a brown sheet and sticking the shipping label, always wrap it with shrink wrap. Otherwise, the package won’t be accepted. This is done to make sure that in case of rain or any contact with water, the packages are safe.

Packages should not be teared

Make sure that the flyer used is new and that the package doesn’t seem to be torn from any angle. This can lead to immediate rejection.

Use appropriate flyer size as per packaging guidelines:

Sometimes due to a shortage of flyers, a seller packages the product in a larger size flyer. Or the product is packed into a larger volume than that specified in the product SKU. Then the shipping cost associated will be increased and deducted from the payment cycle. Make sure to always package the product in the correct flyer size as you mentioned in the product SKU.

Wet packages are not acceptable as per packaging guidelines:

Make sure the packages are dry and in neat condition. Wet packages are not accepted. This could happen in case of rain or emergency.

Never forget the shipping label:

In personalized packages, sellers often forget to paste the shipping label on the parcel. It is a very common mistake overlooked by sellers and they have to return it.

Never purchase Daraz packaging from outside the platform:

Many people are selling Daraz packages outside the platform at a cheaper cost. To tackle this issue Daraz has introduced a new system where each packing item ordered from a seller is booked against his shop ID. Therefore always use packages that are officially bought through the platform as it can create a problem with the return or claims.

Fragile item Packaging guideline :

Always mark fragile packages with a fragile sticker on top, visible from every angle. It should be packed in bubble wrap, brown paper, and shrink wrap as sought appropriately. Fragile items include but are not limited to glass, cutlery, antiques, jewelry pieces, paintings, cards, etc.

According to packaging guideline , material from daraz is allowed:

This is especially true for packages with small volumes that can easily fit into the available Daraz packages. The packages come in the form of flyers( printed with the Daraz logo and can be bought through store ID only). The flyers come in 2 sizes 28x24cm and 42x30cm. Another Daraz designated packaging comes in the form of boxes. Note that white plain flyers are not allowed and are strictly prohibited.

However, According to increasing demand and Green Policies Daraz has allowed sellers to use their own packaging material since 15th Aug 2022. But, it is prohibited for some categories of products. These are:

  • Cameras
  • Computers & Laptops
  • Home Appliances
  • Mobiles & Tablets
  • TV, Audio / Video, Gaming & Wearables

The rest of the sellers can use personal packaging but should meet the minimum requirements set by the platform. This Packaging guidelines are defined but not limited to:

  • Material that has good wear and tears resistance
  • Material is not peaked through. Therefore it is recommended to use dark Solid opaque color packaging.
  • Packaging material should not be reused
  • Bundle Offers must be packed together. Give a read to learn “how to make bundles on Daraz?.”
  • The sealing mechanism has to be durable that can’t be opened easily but only when intended
  • The minimum dimension of the package can be no less than 7inch x 8inch
  • The flyer should not contain any written or printed text on it. For example any kind of terms and conditions.
  • Internal Packaging of the product is according to its category requirement. Foreseeing all the safety aspects.

Packaging Guideline Conclusion:

Let us know below in the comment section how many Packaging guidelines you follow. Or you have ever done or experienced a similar mistake? It is also very important to schedule the delivery of parcels once packaged. You can learn more on the “Daraz Scheduling Portal“. Also, a seller must be aware that the case of packaging is not according to Daraz. Hub will reject and not accept the parcel at the shipping station. Reasons for business failed on Daraz 2023

Table of Contents

The reason for the business failed on daraz 2023

You may have heard of many successful sellers who started from scratch and now have become huge names through the recognition given by the Daraz platform. But you will also find stories about many who were not able to maintain their equilibrium on the platform. The most common issues of business failed are discussed below. These become their main reason for leaving Daraz altogether. Although Daraz has now provided fixes to some of these some of the problems stay. Before starting your business online, you should keep these points in mind:

Blockage of Money

Like any other business blockage of money is the most important aspect. In physical shops that deal with person to person. The customer will pay you the money right away as he/she purchases a product. Even if you sell digital goods or any online service, the requirement of online payment to your bank account is necessary. But unlike the conventional way, Daraz has its scheme of paying the seller.

Daraz only pays once the product delivers to the customer. This means it can take days from when you have shipped the product depending on the location of the buyer. In case of a failed delivery. Which is not so uncommon for the seller. And the product returns. Although no money would be received. This takes time at the seller’s end. As the product stays out of the stalk unless recovered. In best-case scenarios, the product still appears as delivered in the system. And The revenue collects from the seller’s account. But only paid at the end of the week. This may be trouble for small enterprises that don’t have enough money to reinvest. And has to wait for the whole week to pass by. This inconvenience is the major reason why the business failed Daraz.

Biweekly payment to sellers

The biweekly payment issue has now been resolved. Because it leads many sellers to stop their business with daraz. The payment cycle was biweekly. This means after 14 days of the collected payment, the money transfers to the seller’s bank account. Which is now shortened to 7 days of the payment cycle, fair enough for most sellers.

Business Failed due to a decrease in sales due to competition:

Since the Covid times, the business has changed its patterns. Many industries have switched to online business models. This has created an increase in inflow in sellers who want to switch to eCommerce. The impact was an increased number of sellers dealing in the same category of goods. Due to increased competition, the seller has to minimize the profit margin to stay in the marketplace. Also now the customers disperse among the different shops. Thus sellers faced a decline in their sales.

Daraz increasing Commission rate

As Pakistan has a decreasing economy. As expected dollar rate increases exponentially. The service charges, advertisement, and keeping an online presence all take up a cost. The commission rate is increasing exponentially. Therefore, all the rates on the platform started to increase. Which shifted the customer’s behavior in buying the product from the market when accessible. In this catastrophe, only the manufacturers of the product can withstand the increased commission rates by daraz. For the rest of the small startups, their business failed, as it become hard to make a profit. But to sell on the purchase cost.

For more knowledge on rates and deduction read our article on “Daraz Charges from sellers“.

The business failed due to customer fraud

There are many stories where the seller has faced a huge downfall in the business which later leaned to the closure of their company. Other competitors when seeing sellers in the same category, they’re a way of cutting their business by being fake customers. These fake identities on the platform signed up as customers. They bought products from the seller in huge quantities. Later when the order ships, the recipient’s address is found fake. And the phone number given was either wrong or switched off. This was because their only want was that the seller off-shelf their product in the meantime. Thus most sellers were led off during the peak season of the product.

Although Daraz has a very well-established infrastructure. All the failed delivery parcels return back to the Seller. But till then a season of the sale had already passed by. And the sales were down again. This also blocked the money that they were putting in the business in expectation of receiving back the profit. This was never supposed to be paid. Instead, it was a loss of the packaging material. To learn about “how to claim against unjustified return” read here.

How to mitigate against such acts?

Unfortunately, these behaviors are still common and we need to learn as a nation to be a better humans. To improve our business skills and do all affairs fairly. This issue was very hard to deal with. No platform in the world has the authority to verify a customer’s authenticity until the order delivers. Although daraz has a special form accessible in the seller center. When a suspicious order (huge quantity of product) receives at the seller’s end. The seller is supposed to fill in the details for the platform to review. But the processing time is too long to make a difference. Because all sellers must ship the orders within a maximum of 2 working days. And deliberately canceling an order affects the scorecard.

We have seen many small businesses fail. Because their initial capital does not allocate or allow the seller to sustain this kind of loss. And these fake customers were mostly friends who tried to pull a prank. However, this is not solely because the platform allows this kind of customer behavior but it is a disadvantage for all the businesses that run their operations online. In a physical store, this kind of situation can never occur. As it is person-to-person dealing.

Counterfeit Product packed in a parcel

Recently there was a hype that sellers have sent the wrong products against what they have promised. But often sellers are innocent. They have video recordings of the original product packing. Often Daraz staff/delivery persons are guilty of the virtue. Those individuals deserve strict action against them. Sellers and customers are encouraged to report such happenings. But cases like these are rare and By now already sorted. Also, it is important to learn about “Packaging Guidelines“.

A bad Image in the eye of the Customer can lead to failed business

Since Daraz provides the opportunity for anyone to be an entrepreneur. Many sellers only signed up to scam and defame the platform. By sending counterfeit and fake products to the customers. The impression of customers that daraz sellers will scam the audience with their products is still in people’s minds. Most of the time even sellers who are selling original and good products will face fake comments by people. However, Daraz is constantly working to improve people’s perspectives for them. Policies are getting strict for sellers involved in such fraudulent acts.

A strict Score Card Rule stops a business from getting failed

To avoid fake allegations on the platform by customers, Daraz has made some strict policies for the sellers. Any seller who fails to obey or doesn’t match the criteria sees the consequences. The seller’s performance is measured each month. And email in the form of a score card. If a person’s cancellation rate/ returns from the customer increase, the seller is penalized. You might think that this is a very tough limit to reach. But small enterprises can easily cross these lines and be delisted. If you want to read more about being delisted click here.

Preference for Customer over Seller

All these policies give preference to the customer even when the seller is right. The seller has no choice but to think that the model of business failed for them. There may be fewer policies to provide justice to the seller. Campaign prices can often become unreasonable for sellers. But to make a place and rank on the front page they have to compromise. Most businesses couldn’t take the pressure and preferred to change their business model from Daraz to personal bases.

Brands that already had an Online Presence

All these policy obedience and on top of that the increased commission rates lead many sellers to choose their own. Businesses who had been successful in building a brand and already had established an audience of their own. The need for Daraz to take part in their operations was not needed anymore. All those brands switched to dealing with their customers personally. Read “How to build a brand?“.

Conclusion

Before taking your business online with daraz, it is important to first understand and learn from others. We have summed all the possible lessons and reasons for a business to be failed. This might look easy and all charmed up but getting in the process is cumbersome. It may not work for everyone, especially in these struggling times. You may have seen products on the first page with the Daraz Mall tag. And wondered what FBD is. This article will clear your doubts about it. It will help you decide whether you should sign up for FBD. As it may help sellers explore a new way of business in the era of technology.

FBD or Daraz Mall stands for fulfillment by Daraz. It is a new strategy or way of business for sellers dealing in bulk quantities. Daraz makes the process of selling easy for sellers. It does this by storing the product at its warehouse (also called Daraz fulfillment centers). When an order comes they pack and deliver the product on behalf of the seller. Through this seller doesn’t need to worry about the packaging of the product. Daraz is responsible for all the related management work for the fulfillment of the order. FBD is managed by ASCP (Alibaba Supply Chain Portal). It has a separate portal to which the seller has access. Sellers can use it to keep a check on the inventory and finances.

How does FBD benefit the seller?

There are a couple of benefits for the seller, some as listed below:

1, Daraz provides high visibility on the platform to the seller that has joined the FBD program (Daraz Mall). You will no longer need to worry about the SEO (Search engine Optimization) of your products. You can read further on “How to do SEO for Daraz.pk?”.

2, Content, promotion, and pricing of the product are completely dependent on the seller. While Daraz takes care of the day-to-day task of order fulfillment. Big wholesalers can save this time to focus on other business tasks. To learn on how local sellers deal with this cumbersome task you can read “How daraz sellers deliver orders to customers?”

3, Daraz offers one-day delivery of products under the FBD category. This has a huge impact on sales.

4, Seller can get the product back at any time they like.

For return claims by customers, if the products are found in good condition. Daraz will store and resell the product. But if the item is found faulty then it will be returned to the seller. Read “What is a return order?” to know further.

6, All FBD products are fully covered by Daraz’s insurance (against loss, damage, fire, etc.).

7, The FBD system can also keep the track of serial numbers in the products. So it can identify items that come with an expiry date.

What are the charges for FBD service?

Daraz Mall only charges sellers a small fee for the storage of the products. After the first 30 days, the item is considered storage. No cost is charged related to the packaging of the products.

How to join the FBD (Daraz Mall) program?

Sign in to the seller center. Click on fulfillment by Daraz. Raise an inbound order request. Then proceed to send your products to Daraz Fulfillment center. The FBD dashboard will have all the essential key metrics. It equips the seller with real-time information about his products.

FBD Dashboard tells:

2, SKUs below minimum alert threshold: SKUs that have low stock

3, Send to warehouse: All the products stored at the Daraz warehouse

7. Announcements: All the essential information regarding the system.

Along with this, there are other important dashboards. Such as a product dashboard that helps sellers know about a particular product. When it was submitted, and approved, their status, their return, their sales, and their finances. Another significant tab is for analytics. It is sort of a business advisor that can provide sale reports, live inventory, Inventory Reconciliation, Expiry Rate reports (only valid for perishable items), Inventory Aging reports, and Serial Number reports.
