Cosmetic Restriction Policy for Daraz Seller 2023

New Cosmetic Guideline for Daraz Seller

Table of Contents

Daraz has recently introduced the Cosmetic Restriction Policy. It is a difficult but fundamental change in some categories. The Largest impacting industry is Cosmetics. All sellers will face an impact. Through the sudden announcement of an immediate ban on beauty products. Today we will discuss it in detail.

The background which led to Cosmetic Restriction Policy:

Around last year during the summers, all sellers dealing in cosmetic products faced a lock of their products. The items could only be unlocked. Or made visible to customers after the cumbersome process of submitting a list of relevant documents. It is done to ensure customer protection. And that no seller is defaming the platform’s reputation.

Although on the rise of so many complaints and the heavy setback received on the revenue it faced when enforcing such laws without prior notice. Soon all the products were immediately unlocked. While sellers were notified about the relaxation of 3 months during which they can prepare for the paperwork. The new deadline is of 1st Jan 2023.

Which category of sellers are impacted?

The cosmetic industry is greatly affected due to the new “Cosmetic Restriction Policy”. Particularly sellers dealing in:

  • Make-up
  • Skincare
  • Fragrances
  • Personal Care
  • Men’s Care
  • Hair Care
  • Sexual Wellness
  • Bath & Body

What should be done?

All sellers in response to the Cosmetic Restriction Policy have to comply. Whether sourcing or producing any product. All sellers are required to submit the below-mentioned documents, against the item to be sold on the platform:

1, Electronic invoice:

All invoices must be produced electronically. Manual invoices are not accepted. Both parties’ billing addresses and tax details should be present on the document.

The product buyer’s name on the invoice should be the same as the seller’s name on Daraz to ensure transparency. For a manufacturer of the product, the invoice is not required. But company registration and relevant documents must be submitted.

What documents are required by Cosmetic Restriction Policy?

For manufacturers, lab tests are required. This lab test requirement has been a very significant one to maintain Daraz’s quality. As sensitive categories can’t be sold without approval from relevant authorities. All tests must be conducted from a laboratory accredited by Pakistan national accreditation council. Or international accreditation is also accepted such as by FDA(USA), EMA (European Union), and CFDA (China).

The products should be checked against the following ingredients:

The complete Ingredient list has to be approved. Mandatory testing of mercury content (less than 1%) for all cosmetic categories.

How to submit these documents to Daraz?

The seller should send the documents through the e-form provided by the seller center under the header of the Cosmetic Restriction Policy. Or inquire more in live chat.

The seller will receive the response through the official seller email address provided in the form. The process can take up to 7 working days for the Daraz team to contact back. Most often all the feedbacks are not positive and rejection is a common issue. Find the details of the discussion below.

Why my Athorization form is rejected?

Sometimes the form will be rejected on 1st try. The reasons are compiled below:

1, Documents uploaded are not relevant or pictures appear blurry. Please insure clear scanned documents has to be uploaded.

2, If the documents appear to be fake. As in the logos appear to be manipulated or photoshopped. No false claims are tolerated and the application will be rejected right away. If it is invalid then you can reupload the documents clearly or contact the Daraz team through live chat.

3, If the invoice shows evidence that a fake or counterfeit product has been transected. Verified through the price which is unrealistic. Or the purchaser has been known to sell copies of the original product. Then your application would be rejected. Because Daraz does not allow the sale of such items.

4, In the case where the invoice does not display the proper product name. Or the name and address of the seller are ambiguous. Then the application can’t be processed. Transparent information of both parties, the exact detail of each product, and true paperwork must be mentioned on the invoice and submitted for approval. Also, the invoice should clearly state the quotation on it.

5, Most sellers mistakenly upload the empty invoice, thus double check all the documents before uploading.

6, Handwritten invoices are considered unauthentic. Reliable Source has to be listed for the purchase of products to be sold on Daraz.

7, If the product is banned or prohibited to be sold on Daraz. Then submitting a valid invoice won’t matter. To learn more read “what products are restricted to be sold on Daraz?”.

8, Clear Tax details should be mentioned on the invoice. Sales tax is a requirement by the Government of Pakistan and it is a crime in a court of law. Read more about taxes on Daraz here “What are Daraz taxing laws?”

9, The word file of the direct invoice without the signs and stamps is not acceptable. A scanned copy of the final document is the only way to approval.

10, The invoice should mention the price of the product it is being purchased for at the time. This ensures the verification of quality parameters.

Cosmetic Restriction Policy Conclusion:

Daraz constantly works on increasing sales. However, trust is a major element required for online shopping. This Cosmetic Restriction Policy will definitely backlash most sellers. In the conventional work culture especially, in Pakistan, it is easy to skip these procedures and sell the product anyhow. But the cosmetic category is sensitive and the Government has implemented sudden checks to ensure health before beauty protocols. In past, many products have damaged the reputation of the platform thus every day new protocols are introduced.

once the regulatory requirements are achieved. Selling is easy and safe for society. Hope that we have helped you resolve your query. For further details read our article on how Daraz works.
